Savannah`s Memorial Health Board Appoints Two New Members

Press Release Summary: Michael A. Kaigler and Christopher L. Wixon, M.D., have
joined the Memorial Health Board of Directors. Memorial University Medical Center
(MUMC) is a two-state healthcare organization serving a 35-county area in southeast
Georgia and southern South Carolina.



Press Release Body: Michael A. Kaigler and Christopher L. Wixon, M.D., have joined
the Memorial Health Board of Directors.
Kaigler is director of human resources and services for Chatham County. He has
worked for the Chatham County government since 1990, serving as employee relations
manager and director of public works before moving into his current role. Kaigler
recently completed a seven-year term on the State Health Planning Review Board. He
has served as chairman of the board of trustees of the Savannah Business Group and
is past chapter president of 100 Black Men of Savannah Inc. Kaigler has also been
involved with United Way of Savannah, Senior Citizens, Inc., and Leadership
Savannah. He holds a master's degree in public administration from Savannah State
College.
Wixon is a vascular surgeon at Memorial Health University Physicians - Savannah
Vascular Surgery. He is also assistant professor of surgery and radiology for the
Mercer University School of Medicine - Savannah Campus. In addition, Wixon serves as
a clinical instructor for the physician assistant program at South University. He is
an associate fellow in the American College of Surgeons and a member of the
International Society of Endovascular Surgery. Wixon attended medical school at
Pennsylvania State University Hospital. He completed his surgical residency at the
University Health Systems of Eastern North Carolina and his vascular surgery
fellowship at the University of Arizona medical Center.
The 14-member Memorial Health Board of Directors establishes operational policies
for the Memorial Health system. It also ensures that long-range strategic planning,
budget, resource allocation, and policies are consistent with the mission of the
organization. In addition to the incoming members, the Board includes Karen Pannell
(chairwoman), William "Bill" Daniel (vice chair), Helen Downing (secretary), J.
Curtis Lewis, III (treasurer), Curtis G. Anderson, Gus H. Bell, William J.
Degenhart, M.D., William L.D. Lyght, Charles F. McMillan, Mark E. Murphy, M.D., Kay
A. Ford, and Brian Foster.
